Global Variables

The Display Wizard's Global Variables page provides builders with a method to view and maintain global variables without having to go to the Global Variables Manager on the Site Settings page.

Global variables are a CorasWorks Platform feature that simplifies the process of naming and maintaining references to URLs or other text. A global variable is simply an entry in a list that is comprised of a name and a URL or text. The list is identified when the server administrator enables Central Configuration.

All of the Data and Navigation Displays support the use of global variables in any property that references a URL. Any time a reference is made to a global variable, the system will look up the variable to determine the appropriate URL. If the URL ever needs to be updated, it can be done in a single location, rather than having the builder try to remember and access every instance where the URL is referenced.

In order to utilize global variables, Central Configuration must be enabled. Users must have at least Read access to the list in which global variables are stored in order to be able to reference global variables.

Global Variables can be viewed and maintained via the Global Variables page on the Display Wizard or from the Global Variable Manager.
