Using the Tree View

The Tree View Navigation component is designed to be intuitive to both the builder and the end user. As was stated earlier in this help topic, it provides end users with common menu options and easy-to-use tree view-style navigation of the workplace. It can be used to show links to all of the lists and sites available to the user in the current site, or whatever sites are included in the Tree View display.

Depending on how the Tree View is configured by the builder, the user can see the current (or any other) site and a certain number of sites “up” and “down” from that site, or the builder can manually define a structure to show any combination of links and SharePoint sites. The Tree View also provides account and site administration options, depending on user access and the view’s property settings.

With this component, end users can:

Access menu options for the current site and navigate to sub-sites any number of levels below the current level

Set their alerts, password, and email/display name controls

See a complete list of lists to which the user has access (including hidden lists), directly access each list, and create new lists

View any sub-sites, with a description and a link to each site

Specify a URL to another site that resides on the server and retrieve a tree view display of that web site for remote administration and/or navigation

In addition, administrators can perform the following tasks:

      Access the CorasWorks Builder Wizards

Work with site, list, and web part catalogs

      Manage users and permissions

      Maintain site titles and descriptions

      Create and delete sites

Save the current site as a template
