The Display Wizard’s Sort page is used to define how you want a Grid Display’s results to be sorted. You can select up to three columns to sort on in a single Grid Display. In addition, the end user can click on any column in the Grid Display to sort by the values in the column. However, any end user-defined sorts are applied to the current browser session only.
To define how the items in a Grid Display are to be sorted:
1. Drag a column from the Available Fields section and drop in the Selected Columns section.
2. Once a column is in the Selected Columns click on its edit icon and choose if it should be sorted in Ascending (ABC, 123) order or Descending (CBA, 321) order.
3. The columns are sorted in the order listed from top to bottom. This means the first level of sorting is applied to the top column, the second level is applied to the column below that, and so on.
4. To remove a column, click on its “x” or drag it from the Selected Columns back into the Available Fields section.
5. Once
all necessary changes have been made, click on the Apply icon () to save the settings and to return to the
Display Wizard’s home page.
All of the columns in the list that you selected on the Data Source page are available for sorting. If you want to sort (or search or filter) on an additional column but do not want to display it, choose the column on the Columns page and then drag it into the Hidden Columns section.
NOTE: If you apply a sort to the items in a grid via the Display Wizard and then look at the user interface, you will see that a small black “sorting triangle” (or arrow if you are using Firefox) is shown next to the header for each sorted column.
