The Configuration -> Data Source page is used to identify the sites and lists that you want use for the Menu Navigation display.
When choosing a site, note the following:
• You can select from any number of sites or site collections on the server where the Data Display is installed or even another server.
• You can select more levels than currently exist.
• You can select multiple site collections.
• The more levels of sites you include, the greater the impact on performance. CorasWorks recommends that you include only the number of sites that you need in the display.
1. Within the Data Location field, choose one of the following options.
• Current Site – Pull the data from the current site.
• Parent Site – Pull the data from the site above the current site.
• Specific Site(s) – Identify one or more other sites to pull the
data from. When you choose this option, be sure to expand the “Click to manage
selected sites” section in order to point to the location of the
information.
To select a site, find its location on the left side
of the section and drag it into the Selected Sites section.
Alternatively, manually enter a URL and then click on the “URL Arrow” button to
add it into the Selected sites section.
• Directory List – Look at a list that contains the sites and lists to be referenced. As with the Specific Site(s) option, be sure to expand the “Click to manage selected sites” section in order to point to the location of the information. Find the site with the Directory List, then choose the view and column containing the URLs.
Once you have selected the sites and levels to include, the next step is used to identify the lists to include in the display.
2. In the Levels Searched field, enter a number to indicate the number of subsites to search through for information. Note that the greater the number of sites, the slower the return of data.
3. In The Lists Modes field, choose either Line of Site or Selective. For more information on these options, see the Selective and Line of Site sections that follow.
4. In the Available Lists section, the lists that are available are displayed. If the List Mode is set to Line of Site, all of those lists will set to return data and no further action is needed. If the List Mode is set to Selective, click on the list(s) and drag into the Selected Lists field.
5. Once
all necessary changes have been made, click on the Apply icon () to save the settings.
