Action Launcher

Overview

The CorasWorks Action Launcher is a component that provides easy access to actions that can be executed by the end user. The actions are presented in a drop-down that can be placed anywhere on a page. A sample Action Launcher is shown below.

Action definitions are created via the Actions Wizard. The Action Launcher is not tied to any kind of display component, so all required values must be either stored within the action definition or provided by the user when the action is executed. This means that the Action Launcher supports the following types of actions:

    Go To URL

    Create List Item

    Create New Document

    Email

When the builder selects the actions to make available via the Action Launcher, only actions of these types can be selected by the builder; the other action types are not shown on the selection screen.

To execute an action via the Action Launcher, the end user simply clicks on the Action Launcher to expand it and then clicks on the action they want to run. If any information needs to be entered by the user, an entry form is displayed. Otherwise, the action is executed and, unless it is a Go To URL action, the user is returned to the page from which the action was selected.
