Step 3: Identify the Affected List and Column Population Options

The next page in the Actions Wizard is the Data Source Selection page. This page is used to identify the list to which the item(s) will be published when the action is executed, and how the columns are to be populated.

1.     Select the appropriate option for the Data Source Selection property.

Relative – Select this option (the default) if the action should be executed against the list with the same name as the model list, in the site from which the action is executed.

Static – Select this option if the action should always be run against the specific list you chose as the model list.

User Selects Destination – Select this option if the end user should be prompted for the destination list when the action is run.

2.     Use the Destination List radio buttons and drop-down to identify the location and name of the list to which items are to be published when this action is executed.

3.     Next, highlight the columns to be populated by the action in the Available Columns area and use the right arrow icon to move them to the Selected Columns area.

Any required columns are automatically placed in the Selected Columns area.

The up and down arrows to the right of the Selected Columns area are used to rearrange the order of the columns as they are presented in two places:

On the Column Definition page of the Actions Wizard

On the action entry form presented to the end user, if the action is configured to prompt the user for information when the action is run.

4.     Select the appropriate Column Population Option to define how the columns selected for the action are to be populated.

5.     Select the Next button to continue. The Column Definition page is displayed next.
