Once a central view has been added to a display, there are two ways it can be edited, depending on whether the view was added as a reference or as a copy.
•If the
central view was added as a reference, it cannot be edited via the
display’s Display Wizard. If you go to the Display Wizard’s Views page and click
the Edit icon for a central view that was added as a reference, you can move
through the wizard pages and view the properties, but you cannot make any
changes. The properties are grayed out and a message stating “The properties
of this view are read-only” is shown on top of each page.
If
you want to make changes to the Central View, you have to access it via the
Central Views Wizard. Keep in mind, however, that changes you make in the
Central Views Wizard will affect all displays that reference the central
view.
•If the central view was added as a copy, it can be edited via the display’s Display Wizard. There is no connection between a copied central view and the original definition in the Central Views Wizard. Once a central view is added to a display as a copy, it is treated just like a local view. The changes you make to the view in the Display Wizard do not affect the original definition in the Central Views Wizard or any other instances of the display that use that central view.
