Display Settings

The Display Settings page is used to define the properties that determine how the Menu Navigation looks to the end user. A sample Display Settings page is shown here.

Description: Menu Nav - Display Settings 121009

The properties on this page will vary slightly depending on the view type selected earlier. If the view type is set to Menu Navigation List or Cascading Navigation List, then all properties shown in the example above will be displayed. If the view type is set to Menu Designer, the List view to reference property is not displayed because it does not apply to this view type.

Each of these properties is described below.

Menu display style

The style to apply to the Menu Navigation. Samples are shown below.

CorasWorks – Typically used to navigate through a single application or solution. Shows the menu items in a tabbed style.

SharePoint – Typically used for global navigation, allowing users to navigate across multiple applications or solutions. Shows the menu items in a drop-down menu style.

List view to reference

The list view to reference to determine the top level of the menu items to include in the Menu Navigation display.  This property is not shown/does not apply to Menu Designer views.

Show menu items on click

Select this option to show the next level of menu items only when the user clicks on an item. Leave the checkbox blank to show the next level of menu items only when the user hovers over an item.

Show breadcrumb trail

Select this option to include a breadcrumb trail near the top of the page. Each item in the breadcrumb trail is hyperlinked for easy navigation.

Menu Navigation is to be used with a panel template

If the page is panel-enabled (as with some of the starter templates) and this option is selected, when the user selects a Menu Navigation item, only the panel portion of the page (the content area) will be refreshed. The outer portion (frame) will not be affected.

If the view type is set to Menu Navigation List or Cascading Navigation List, this is the last Display Wizard page. If the view type is set to Menu Designer, there is one more page to address: Menu Designer.
