Column Totals

The Column Totals page in the Display Wizard allows the builder to perform a variety of numeric functions against the items returned in a display. The following functions are available for use on numeric columns:

      Average

      Maximum

      Minimum

      Sum

In addition, a Count function can also be applied against columns that contain any type of data.

NOTE 1:  The only function available on a lookup, calculated, or choice column is the Count function; Average, Minimum, Maximum, and Sum are not supported.

NOTE 2:  Grand totals are not currently supported. If you have a column value with items that span multiple pages of a Grid Display, each page will show a total for the items on that page, but it will not provide a grand total for all of the items with that column value across multiple pages.

NOTEs

Effective with the v11.2 display, the Column Totals appear within the group header when grouping is enabled.  The values are placed next to the group heading information.

Add a Column Total

To add a column total to a Grid Display, all you need to do is choose the column you want to work with, the calculation to perform, and the label to use next to the result within the Grid Display. An option is available to show totals within groups, as well.

1.  Select the column you want to work with from the Column drop-down. The columns listed in the drop-down are the columns that were selected on the Columns page.

2.  Use the Calculation drop-down to select the function you want to perform against the values in that column.  The available functions are based on the type of data in the column. For non-numeric columns, the only available option is “Count.”

TIP:  If you choose to add a Count to the display, the result can be placed beneath any column. You may want to experiment with the placement of the Count to determine where it is most visually effective. It does not matter if some of the items in that column are not populated; the result of the Count will not be affected because it looks at the number of list items displayed, not the value in that particular column.

3.  In the Label column, type the label you want to place to the left of the results of the calculation on the display. The default label is the name of the calculation selected above.

4.  If you would like to add another total or other function to the display, click the Add Another Total button. An additional section will be displayed, and you can repeat these steps as often as necessary.

To remove a total, simply click the red X to the right of the expression you want to remove.
