As a builder, you can color-code entries on a Calendar Display. For example, say you want the various events displayed in a calendar to be color-coded based on the type of event. All team meetings should be displayed in blue, while corporate meetings should be displayed in green, and customer meetings should be displayed in red. The builder can assign colors to each of those event categories. When a new event is added to a list that is included in the calendar, if the column that contains the event type is populated, the calendar will display the event with the color assigned to that event type.
Calendar Displays can be color-coded using two different methods, which CorasWorks calls resources and categories.
• Resources are similar to dynamic grouping. The builder identifies a resource column, and the items on the Calendar Display are color-coded based upon the value in that column. As additional resources are added, they are automatically identified with a color in the display. The color is applied as a background color. The resources are named in the user display in the left panel below the mini calendar, which is shown or hidden via the Display Settings.
• Categories, on the other hand, are similar to static grouping. The builder identifies one or more columns and one or more values in those columns, then assigns heading text and a color for that group of items. Any number of groups can be defined. The categories are named in the user display in an area below the toolbar. Items that belong in each category are shown in the calendar with a small box of the corresponding color to the left.
Both a resource and a category can apply to a single item in a calendar. When that happens, the item will be shown with the resource color in the background and the category color in a box to the left of the item.
