Zone Report

The Zone Report is automatically generated when the Scan tab is accessed and the Change Default Options area is populated. It states the default source page to be used as the site template, with the names of the web part zones on that page. Then it lists each of the pages selected for migration, with the web part zones on those pages. Any web part zones that do not match are listed below the URL of the page to be migrated. The action taken on the web parts in those zones is determined by the setting in the Exclude Orphaned Web Parts property, discussed above.

Any pages with web part zone issues are listed first, followed by the pages on which there are no issues. The items in the Zone Report are sorted by URL.

If the web part zone IDs do not match, a message states “Web parts in these zones are orphaned, these zones will not be migrated.” The message is followed by a list of web part zones on the page being migrated that do not exist on the template page.

If the Exclude Orphaned Web Parts checkbox is turned off for a particular page, the Zone Report states “Removal of orphaned web parts turned off for this page.”

The area above the Zone Report offers three icons:

Title: DM - Refresh - Description: DM - Refresh - Refresh the report after making changes in Change Default Options area.

Title: DM - Save - Description: DM - Save - Save the report to a location you identify.

Title: DM - Print - Description: DM - Print - Send the report to a printer.

NOTE: If you use the Design Manager to migrate an existing CorasWorks solution, the Zone Report generated by the Design Manager will include statements that there will be orphaned web parts in these web part zones:

      Menu Navigation

      Tab Navigation

      Up To Navigation

      View Navigation

      Workplace Navigation

This is to be expected because in the Winter 2007 solution set, all of the navigation is typically placed on master pages; the navigation web parts from the pages to be migrated will and should be ignored, and replaced with the navigation on the template’s master pages.
