The View Details page is the first Display Wizard page displayed after a View is selected. It is used to identify the view name and description, and select the specific type of view being created or edited.
This is the name that is shown to end users, in the Views drop-down on the top left side of the Chart Display. It is also the name that you see when you are on the Views page, and at the top of all other Display Wizard pages.
NOTE: View names
support the use of the following special characters:
:{}[]\|=+asdf!@#$%^&**())_'";;
The view description is optional, but can be helpful to your users. When a user hovers over a view name in the Views drop-down on the Chart Display's toolbar, the description you provide here is displayed in a pop-up. If no description is provided on this page, the pop-up will not be displayed.
There are two available view types for a Chart Display:
• Standard View – A basic Chart Display that contains SharePoint data.
• Advanced View (XML based) – A Chart Display that contains data fed from an Advanced XML page.
The most common type of view is the Standard View, so that is what is discussed in the following sections. Click here for details on creating an Advanced View.
