Step 9: Time And Date Options

The Appearance -> Time and Date Options page allows the builder to define a variety of properties related to time format, the default timeframe for the calendar, and how a week and a work week are defined. This section explains how to use each of the properties on this page.

Show start time in display

By default, the start time is not shown in the Calendar Display. However, you can select this checkbox to have it displayed for each item.

Item time format

Select the time format you want to use from the drop-down. The default is to use the format utilized on the current site. A variety of 12-hour and 24-hour formats is available. This property pertains to DateTime values within the data, not to times displayed in certain Calendar view modes.

Day and Week View Time column format

Similar to the Item time format option, except it applies to the Day and Week view types only.  Select the time format you want to use from the drop-down. The default is to use the format utilized on the current site. A variety of 12-hour and 24-hour formats is available.

Time Zone

This menu offers the following options for displaying time:

      Show times in Universal Coordinated Time (UTC): Select this option to have all item times shown in Universal Coordinated Time.

      Show times in current site’s time: Default option.  Select this option to have all item times shown in the time zone configured for the current site. The site’s current region time setting is displayed.  This is the default selection.

      Show times in original site’s time: Select this option to have all item times shown in the time zone configured for the site in which each item is located.

Workday duration

This option controls the start and end time of the workday.  Depending on the timeframe, non-work hours will be shown with a different background color. The start time property defaults to 8:00 AM and the end time property defaults to 4:00 PM.

Visible window (for Day and Week View)

Similar to the Workday duration option, this option controls the visible times when using the Day and Week Views. The visible start time property defaults to 6:00 AM and the visible end time property defaults to 8:00 PM.

First day of the week

The day of the week to use as the first day of the week in the calendar. This defaults to Sunday.

Set calendar initially to

The view type for which the calendar should be displayed when it is initially accessed. The default is Month.  The other options are Day, Week, Work Week, and Timeline.  The Timeline option is discussed below.

Calendar Start Date

The date on which the calendar display should begin. This defaults to Current Date. As an example, if this is set to Current Date and the timeframe is set to show a month at a time, the calendar will default to show the current month. The user can still use the arrows at the top of the Calendar Display to show different months.
