Chart Definition

Video: Click here to see a video that discusses this page of the Chart Display’s Display Wizard. This video is available through the Platform Learning Center in the CorasWorks Customer Center.

This page is used to identify the type of chart you want to show in the view and the columns to reference for the chart data. The selections you make here affect the properties shown on the Chart Designer and Chart Format pages.

1.  Select the type of chart you want to display from the Chart type drop-down. A sample is shown in the area to the right.

2.  The Chart sub-type drop-down is populated with choices based upon your selection in the previous step. Once again, as you highlight the various options, a sample is shown to the right.

3.  In the Data Settings area, select the radio button that corresponds with the method you want to use to define the columns and values to include in the chart.

Dynamic configuration: Choose this option to create the chart based on the values in a column. As new values are used in the column, they will automatically be included in the chart. This is similar to dynamic grouping in Grid Displays.

Static configuration: Choose this option to create the chart based on the values in a column, but include only those items where the value in the column matches a value you specify below. This is similar to static grouping in Grid Displays.

Chart designer: Choose this option to use the Chart Designer (on the next wizard page) to drag and drop the columns you want to reference in the chart.

The remaining contents of the page depend upon the selection you make here. If you chose Chart Designer, proceed to the next wizard page.
