To add the Up To Navigation component to a page:
1. Click on the Site Actions menu and select Edit Page. The page is placed in Edit Mode.
2. Click on the Add a Web Part link in the zone where you want to place the Data Display. A list of available web parts is displayed.
3. Select CorasWorks Grid from list of available components, then click OK to add it to the page.
When the Up To Navigation is added onto the page, the Display Wizard will automatically open. This gives you the opportunity to add a new view to the display. A preconfigured view is available, and you must select it in order for sites to be displayed once exiting the Display Wizard. Of course you can access the Display Wizard to modify the properties or create an alternate view if you wish. However, as with the other navigation displays, only one view at a time can be made available to the end user.
If you place it on a top-level site, it will not be visible at run-time because it only displays links to parent sites. The Up To Navigation will display site structure up to the top of the current web application or site collection.
When you access the Display Wizard, the Views page is displayed as it is for all of the other CorasWorks navigation components. The process to start creating a new view or editing an existing one is the same. After you have specified whether you want to add or edit a view, the View Details page is displayed.
Type or edit the View Name and Description, then click the Next button at the bottom of the page. The Display Settings page is shown. This page contains the properties that determine what is shown to the user.
The label to display to the end user at the top of the Up To Navigation drop-down.
The Up To Navigation will show a link to each of the sites in the current site hierarchy. In addition to the site name, you can specify whether it should:
•Always show the site description
•Always show the site URL
•Show the site description if it is available and if not, then the site URL
An image is displayed to the left of each site name identified in the Up To Navigation. This property allows the builder to define whether the image shown should be:
•The default SharePoint image
•The image associated with the site
•A custom image identified by the builder
If the option for a custom image is selected, the builder can have the same image shown for all of the sites, or show the custom image only when the site does not have an image associated with it.
By default, the sites are shown with the root site at the top followed by all of the sub-sites down to the current site (Top-Down). To reverse this order, select Bottom-Up.
