Add a New Global Link

When the Global Links Manager is initially accessed, a Link Selection page is displayed. This page is used to begin the process of creating, editing, copying, or deleting a global link.

If no global links have been defined yet, the table below the “Create a new link” option will be empty. If there are global links available, they are listed in the table in alphabetical order. However, you can click on the Link URL or Category column headers to sort by either of those columns, instead.

1.  Click on Create a new link. A Link Details page is displayed.

2.  Type the name to use to identify the new global link in the Global Link Name field. The link name must be enclosed in square brackets, like this: [Link Name].

CorasWorks recommends that you limit the characters in the global link name to letters and numbers only.

3.  The Global Link Category can be used to assign a category to the new global link. This information is not required and is not visible to the builder or end user. It is simply used to help you organize your global links, and is shown on the Link Selection page.

4.  In the Global Link URL field, type the full URL to assign to that name. Note that global links are site-based, not list-based, so only the URL to the site needs to be identified here. Alternatively, you can click the Browse button to access a list of valid sites and highlight one of them to select it.

An error message will be presented if you attempt to add a new global link with the same name as an existing global link. However, there can be multiple links with different names that point to the same URL.

5.  Click the Finish button to save the global link and return to the Link Selection page. The new link is added to the table at the bottom of the page, sorted in alphabetical order.
